Chinese New Year

We are so blessed to have had Anna Yu, parent of two of our preschoolers come in this week to the pre-K room and teach us all about Chinese New Year. The kids learned all about the customs surrounding this 15 day celebration. They learned what preparations families do in anticipation of the holiday, including family chores, what clothes they buy (the kids thought it was hilarious that they buy new underwear!), how they decorate the house, and much more. Children sampled some traditional foods, learned how to write "good fortune" in Chinese, and how to hold chopsticks. They also learned about the Chinese zodiac and learned that this new year is the Year of the Dog.

It is experiences like these that make school so memorable, and we cannot thank Ms. Anna enough for taking the time to share all of this with our students!!
